Family-Friendly New Years Eve Events
Friday, Dec 28, 5:00 PM – 11:30 PM CST
(This is an all-ages event that might be more enjoyable for teens than for the littles.) Friday night, Dec. 28, celebrate New Year’s Eve a few days early with live alternative rock music and food trucks at Wave, 650 E. 2nd St. See Me Like Bees, Old News, Faintheart (band members are from various parts of Kansas), and Wichita natives Abandon Kansas. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with an art show, Abandon Kansas performs an acoustic set at 6:00 p.m., and the show starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets purchased in advance are $10 or 4 tickets for $30, or pay $15 the day of the show.
Dec. 31 Noon Year’s Eve skate: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m
Dec. 31 Public Skate: 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Jan. 1 Public Skate: 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Carousel Skating Rink is a local favorite, and earlier this year, they opened a brand new Play Zone that is now Wichita’s largest indoor play place. Noon Year’s Eve is just for kids ages 10 and younger, and includes skating, skate rental, Play Zone, a balloon drop, and hundreds of prizes. Tickets are $11.99. Note that, unlike public skating sessions, even non-participating adults must have a ticket to this event ($4.99). They anticipate this event will sell out, so you are encouraged to buy tickets in advance rather than waiting to purchase at the door.
Carousel will have also public skating sessions on both Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Separate tickets are required for the public skate, even if you attended Noon Year’s Eve. Ticket costs for public sessions are $6 for skating admission, $6 for Play Zone admission or $10 to skate & play, plus $2 skate rental. Carousel is located at 312 N. West St.
